PRESENTATION
Irish bouzouki, mandoloncello, octave mandolin, short-neck bouzouki, Pandora, cittern, all different names for instruments from the same family, with various shapes, scales, and numbers of string pairs.
I offer two body sizes, “Standard”, 35.5 cm in body width and “Large”, 38 cm in body width, in two different models: “Banshee” model and “Tara” model.
Both models have equivalent acoustic qualities and woods. They differ in decoration (inlays, wood, finish), with the “Tara” being more understated (less decorated) than the “Banshee”.
I craft these instruments with three scale lengths to choose from: 63 cm, 59 cm, and 54.5 cm.
The scale length is closely linked to the tuning chosen, which will determine the string gauge to use.
The various possible tunings are: GDAE, GDAD, ADAD, GDGD, GCGC… and others.
Depending on your preferences, morphology, and playing style, you can select the model that best suits you from this range.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TWO MODELS:
MODEL “TARA”:
Soundboard purfling only
Simple rosette
Matte finish with open pores
Different wood for the back and sides
MODEL “BANSHEE”:
Full inlay
Decorative rosette
Rosewood for the back and sides
Glossy finish
The rosette is available in either round or diamond shape (as shown in the videos above) without any extra charge for both models.
The headstock is an optional addition that can be included in the order.
