Le bouzouki irlandais est une adaptation du bouzouki grec, réalisé par un luthier anglais dans les années 1970. Aux cours de leurs voyages, Johnny Moynihan d’abord et Andy Irvine ensuite, ramenèrent des bouzoukis Grecs a quatre coeurs en Irlande.
C’est dans le groupe Sweeney’s Men qu’il fût employé d’abord, mais dans sa forme grecque,
avec un dos rond comme une mandoline napolitaine.
Ce n’est que lorsque Donal Lunny s’interressa a l’instrument, qu’il devint ce que l’on connait aujourd’hui sous le nom de bouzouki Irlandais, un instrument avec tous les coeurs doublés a l’unisson, ce qui a pour conséquence d’augmenter les graves.
Il est souvent joué avec un mélange de mélodies et d’accord, technique qui convient à merveille pour l’accompagnement de la musique Irlandaise traditionnelle.
Mais il est de nos jours largement employé dans beaucoup d’autres styles de musique .
L’instrument que je propose, a une table et un fond radiusés, mais pas sculptés.
La caisse sur le modèle standard est assez large et profonde.
Le chevalet n’est pas collé sur la table, simplement posé sous la pression des cordes.
Je peux à la demande, faire varier légèrement, la largeur du manche à la tête.
La touche est également radiusée.Le diapason standard est 63 cm, mais je peux a la demande, le faire varier.

« BANSHEE » IRISH BOUZOUKI

The Irish bouzouki is an adaptation of the Greek bouzouki, made by an English luthier in the 1970s. During their travels, Johnny Moynihan first and then Andy Irvine brought four-course Greek bouzoukis, back to Ireland.
It was in the Sweeney’s Men group that it was first employed, but in its Greek form,
with a round back like a Neapolitan mandolin.
It was only when Donal Lunny became interested in the instrument, that it became what we know today as the Irish bouzouki, an instrument with all courses doubled in unison, which has the effect of increasing the bass.
It is often played with a mixture of melodies and chords, a technique which is ideally suited for the accompaniment of traditional Irish music.
But nowadays it is widely used in many other styles of music.
The instrument I offer has a radiused table and back, but not sculpted.
The body on the standard model is quite wide and deep.
The bridge is not glued to the table, simply placed under the pressure of the strings.
I can, on request, vary slightly, the width of the neck at the head.
The fingerboard is also radiused. The scale length is 63 cm, but I can vary it on request.
